I never saw Pentangle, one of the biggest regrets of my musical life. But I did see several constituent parts of the group separately. I saw Renbourn playing solo, I saw Jansch playing a support gig for Ralph McTell, and I once saw Danny Thompson backing Richard Thompson (on another occasion I saw Richard Thompson backed by his son, Teddy: too many Thompsons). Now Danny Thompson has gone, but we still have those extraordinary solos on various Pentangle albums. I think I know what I might be listening to today.
